About Us

We are Girls Scouts from Austin, Texas, united in our love for the ocean and ability to scuba dive. We are ocean advocates, using fewer straws and coral-safe sunscreen, participating in lake clean-ups, and encouraging others to do the same. Through our troop's sponsor dive shop, we became part of NOAA's Ocean Guardian Dive Club and took the Ocean Guardianship Pledge. We work hard to protect the ocean and "Dive like a Girl Scout" as well as live by the Girl Scout Law.

"I love experiencing a whole new world, and playing with underwater physics." - Cool Cuttlefish

Our History

The idea for the Girl Scout Scuba Troop started in 2015. Queen Trigger, a troop leader and divemaster, asked some of her fellow women in diving if they would be interested in helping build a year-round scuba program for GSCTX, including classes and a separate troop. She and the other new troop leaders began the arduous task of completing all the paperwork. After working with GSCTX's Outdoor Program Specialist, all the paperwork was finally filed in 2016. The first meeting, in February 2017, had just 4 scouts: Cuttlefish, Flounder, Octogirl, and Otter. Now, we have over 14 members!
