When we got to the dive site (Windy Point), I assembled my gear and went to go and see how much weight I needed to sink my pumpkin . Since a pumpkin is practically a big bubble of air, I had to use about 12-16 pounds to sink it. To sink the pumpkin we put it in a mesh bag and then put weights in the bag with it. The pumpkin itself was pretty big so it was quite heavy trying to lift up the bag it was in. Once we got to the bottom I poked a hole in it to start letting some of the air out, then I cut a hole on the top as you would on land and gutted it. Cutting the pumpkin wasn’t super hard, but trying to get the carver in it it took a little bit of effort since you don’t have as much force as you would on land. I enjoyed carving pumpkins underwater because it is a very unique experience and it was cool, and I hope I get to do it again next year.
